The Walled Garden
One of Think Bible’s study tips is to do a word study. Have you given it a try? When it came up for the month, I had already been working on a word study, but mine was a little different.
Simple
Simple. What a word! It can mean so many different things. A simple dress, a simple ingredient, a simple formula, a simple story...I could go on, and I’m sure you could too.
The Motherliness of Jesus, Part 2
Our last article looked at the motherliness of Jesus as seen in four different aspects. Today I want to share several more thoughts on this theme. As we prepare to celebrate our moms this weekend, let’s not forget the One that has demonstrated perfect love for us all.
The Motherliness of Jesus, Part 1
What is your first memory of childhood? For me, it’s my mother. Her smile. Her golden hair. Her beautiful face. I remember my first day of school - but actually, I don’t. I remember my mom’s smile in the pictures, holding her hand as I nervously tiptoed into the classroom, and seeing her face at the end of the torturously long morning.
He Restoreth My Soul
Psalm 23 is a very familiar Psalm and often quoted. I myself often quote this passage as I lie down at night, and have pondered the phrase He restoreth my soul.
A Mother’s Love
They were right! They all said it would happen, every one of them! I remember being a young mother with young children, and constantly hearing the older, wiser mothers at church say, “They will grow up in an instant, so don’t blink or you will miss it.”
Hiding God’s Word in Your Heart
“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.” ~Jeremiah 15:16
Hearing
“What do you want people to hear about you?” This is the question my husband used at the beginning of a recent Sunday morning message.
Adjusting to Life on the Mission Field
Years ago, we sold our first house and bought another on the other side of town. We were so excited. Our family had grown and we needed a third bedroom. The Lord had answered our prayer abundantly. A few weeks after the move, we were finally settled in, but I was so lonely.
Rehearse Book
During a sermon over 25 years ago, my pastor made a statement that was the spark of a new way of thinking and praying for me.
What About Saturday
This year, more than any other, I have spent some time focusing on the Passion Week and its events. In the past, I guess I have been too busy with other things: cleaning house, washing and ironing Easter clothes, preparing the Easter dinner with all of the trimmings, filling Easter baskets for the kids. Shame on me. God has turned my focus this year away from all of the American-ized holiday activities and led me to just gaze upon Him. And I am in awe.
Disappointment With God, Part 3
Disappointment with God comes from faulty theology.
Disappointment With God, Part 2
Disappointment with God comes from His delays.
Disappointment With God
Disappointment with God comes from unmet expectations.
Suzie’s Spring
In keeping with the theme of Jesus’ Resurrection, as well as with my goal to reach Christian ladies of all ages, today’s article by Jarmila Del Boccio is geared toward children. The littlest ladies need to know about the power of God’s Word in our lives, too! I pray that you will share this sweet story with your daughters, granddaughters, nieces, students, and so on. Let’s start even now pouring the Truth into these young hearts and minds.
Psalm 16:11
During the last few years, we have been busy starting a brand new church. It is an exciting time. We have learned the books of the Bible together and all the basics needed for Christian growth. Every month we learn a new verse together.
Legacy Leaders
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4 (KJV)
A Lesson in Suffering: How Strong is My Faith
January 1 rolls around, and I begin my attempt to read through the Bible in a year. Starting in Matthew, it doesn’t take long to see how often Jesus commended the faith of those He touched and healed. Then I ask myself, would He commend my faith?
The Next Generation
An extremely important topic for me and for our churches is that of training the next generation of leaders. Generation Z is coming of age, and many of us are concerned about their ability to advance God's Kingdom around the globe.
Stewardship
Chores. Housework. Schedules.
Do those words cause you to smile? Do they cause hesitation or stressful feelings?
