Why Christian Women
Welcome, ladies! I am truly so thankful that you have joined me here for weekly articles full of encouragement and help from God’s Word. I thought we would start this first week with some explanation. So today we will talk about the mission statement for ThinkBible.online
Hopefully you have read our mission statement: ThinkBible.online exists to challenge, edify, and encourage Christian women to think and live biblically for the glory of God. What, exactly, does that mean? Specifically, why “Christian women?” Why not all women? Or all people?
First, this blog will be written by me, a Christian woman, and by guest bloggers, who are also Christian women. I believe the Bible is clear that women are not to teach men things concerning Scripture. Therefore, we won’t encourage the men to be reading these articles. And I do believe that the “older women” are commanded to teach, disciple, and mentor the “younger women.”
This blog is a way that we can accomplish that.
But why “Christian” women? Initially, it just seemed appropriate, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how important that is. A woman who is not a Christian is not able to understand the Word of God or its teachings.
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (I Corinthians 2:12-14)
What is a Christian woman? To begin, let’s remember what she is not:
She is not just someone who has been born into a Christian family.
She is not just someone who attends church.
She is not just someone who believes in a god.
She is not just someone who has been baptized.
She is not just someone who is a nice person.
According to the Bible, which is our only foundation for truth, a Christian is someone who has placed her faith and trust in God and accepted His free gift of salvation, which is offered to all by His love and grace and made possible through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.
In the beginning, there was only God. He has always been and always will be. He needs no one and nothing. But He chose to create the universe, the earth, and all that is in it, including mankind. Genesis tells us that He created one man, Adam, and one woman, Eve, and placed them in the Garden of Eden, where they could live in perfect fellowship with God. And the reason that He created them - and us - was for His own pleasure and glory.
“In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth…And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.” (Genesis 1:1, 26a, 27)
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11) Unfortunately, Adam and Eve chose to sin. They disobeyed God’s only command for them and they ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This sin brought condemnation - judgment - upon all of mankind for the rest of time.
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the word, and death by sin; so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12)
Our sin, disobedience and rebellion against God and His Word, has separated us from God. We cannot talk with Him or know His will for our lives. We cannot reach Him or please Him in this life or after it by any act of our own will.
“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
Since God is our Creator, He owns the rights to our lives. He gets to make the rules. And He also loves us more than we can imagine. He wants us to know Him and have a relationship with Him, and He says that the only way we can do that is through His Son, Jesus. Although He Himself was sinless, Jesus paid the debt for our sins by His death on the cross. His sacrifice satisfied God’s demand for justice, while demonstrating His great love for His people.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.” (John 14:6)
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures. (I Corinthians 15:3-4)
As we accept this truth and recognize our need for the Savior, He rescues us from our hopeless condition, welcomes us into His family, and secures our place in eternity with Him.
“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” (John 1:12)
“For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)
If you understand your sinful condition and accept the gift of salvation through Jesus’ sacrifice, love, and grace to you, you are a Christian! If not, I pray that you will accept Him today. And after salvation, God wants us to “grow in grace.” He wants us to keep changing so that we think and act more and more like Jesus. This process is called sanctification, and it comes by knowing God and His instruction book - the Bible. That’s what this blog is all about: growing and changing to become more like Christ.
So, you see, the designation of “Christian women” does have significance and importance in our mission. We do not aim to be exclusive, but rather to help more women come to know Christ as Savior, and in turn, to gain more worshippers for our heavenly King!
If you have any questions about the gospel, the “good news” of the message shared above, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We want more than anything to help you know for sure that your sins have been forgiven and that you will spend eternity with God in heaven. And then, together, we can be challenged, edified, and encouraged to think and live biblically for the glory of God!
